I’m nobody from nowhere

You’d have ever heard of anyway.

Ain’t no city way down there

You couldn’ve heard a pin drop any time of day.

Friday’s come. Get yourself outside once that last work bell has sounded.

But remember there’s strife in the world. If you’re interested in donating to relief efforts for devastated Haiti, click here for the Red Cross.

We started this week ruminating about whether America – nature’s nation – truly has wilderness, or if the American wilderness is more a state of mind now. What’s wild anymore? We may never come to a consensus on the answer, but Compass Points come back now and then to the topic. For Pointers and for this writer/backpacker, it’s a topic of utmost importance, especially as me and Mrs. Compass Points slowly make our way to having a family of little backpackers.

And it’s clearly important to our community at Compass Points, as the day we ran that story set all time highs for visits, comments and referrals.

We’ll head for the weekend highlighting a video from Osprey Packs, who Pointers appear to like very much, according to our informal survey about what company makes the best backpacks. The vid is from Osprey, serving up a look at their Aether and Ariel backpacks. I’m a proud owner of the Aether 70.

Like an old fashion get-together at an Appalachian Trail shelter, the Compass Points community gathers not just here but at Facebook and at Twitter. We’d love to have more Facebook fans and Twitter followers. Come join the jamboree as we swap gear tips and stories from the trails, the waterways and adventurous spots here in America and around the world.

Hike n, Pointers, into another fabulous weekend! See yah Monday.
