Compass Points TV debuts at 7 p.m. here at CompassPointsMedia.com with the first eye-pleasing episode. We wanted the first episode to be memorable, and we’re confident the first episode will stimulate your hiker instinct and inspire your inner explorer. And we timed it so Compass Points TV debuted as spring draws near. Got cabin fever? We hope with Compass Points TV to strum that desire for wilderness travel.

We’ll bring you a new Compass Points TV episode every Wednesday after tonight. It’s like having your own hiking channel.

I noticed when I founded Compass Points more than a year ago the scarcity of quality outdoor adventure video on the Internet. Oh, there’s lots of stuff out there, but we wanted something that would be not only informative but also bring the mud-on-the-boots, sun-in-our-eyes, cozy-in-our-sleeping-bag awesomeness of the trail to your screen. After searching and searching for those kinds of vids, we decided to try our own, and Compass Points TV started.

Filming began in earnest in October 2009 with the March 3 start date in mind, and we quickly discovered the challenges of filming a hiking show. Your walking pace slows, you stress about the camera’s exposure to the elements, you haul a bulky tripod and some of your hiking partners just aren’t comfortable with a camera in their faces. We persevered, however, and now we’re brimming with episodes ready for broadcast.

Watching a video about hiking will never replace the experience of walking the trail, and that’s the point. We hope Compass Points TV creates a spring of inspiration that will send you, your boots and your backpack to the trail.

Come back here to CompassPointsMedia.com at 7 p.m. to see the first episode.

When in doubt, do it yourself! I’ve felt the same way about online outdoors videos. I’m really excited to see what you put out on Compass Points TV! You and I have had the same idea about putting out quality content for outdoors enthusiasts…mine just has more of a travel (and beer) bent to it!

Can’t wait to watch and spread the word about Compass Points TV!

Chris,

Thanks for the support. We have future plans to expand Compass Points TV to other areas after this season’s first step. Much to anticipate, much to look forward to experiencing. Keep working hard and hike on!

Dave
