When you turn 30, you realize that some of your lifelist goals — created during those frenzied, optimistic 20s — might be too ambitious, that life might force some compromises. Marriage, careers, family — There’s only so much time for it all!
And then comes an unexpected opportunity to restart your grand pursuits. For us at Compass Points Media, that unexpected opportunity came with my brother’s upcoming wedding in Las Vegas, and more specifically, what happens in the days after the nuptials.
Compass Points Media is heading during mid-October to Zion and Bryce Canyon national parks in southern Utah, and we’re busy now making plans for future content you can view right here. A new Compass Points TV episode? A Backcountry Radio recorded on site? New Friday Pics slideshows? We’re jazzed about the possibilities.
We have five days to play in the canyons and hike among the hoodoos.
Have a suggested hike or information you’d like to see here at Compass Points Media. Let us know so we can consider the ideas during our editorial brainstorming sessions.
Keep hiking on toward your grand pursuits!

In Zion… Angel’s Landing is a really neat experience. The Narrows would be excellent as well… we were very disappointed we couldn’t hike that because the river was running too high when we were there.
Bryce… wandering anywhere below the rim is cool… Queen’s Garden, Fairyland loop. Bryce is over 8000′ though…. that park was our first run in with the effects of altitude.
Enjoy them both. October is the best time of year to go weather wise and photography light wise. I loved the hoodoos.
